The Road to Karazhan - Crush Immunity

I'm in the process of advancing my gear towards gaining crush immunity, in preparation for Karazhan. As such, I thought I'd post about some of my choices, and gear I'm after. First up, my gearing objectives are;

- 10k health unbuffed minimum
- 490 defense minimum
- Crush immunity with Holy Shield up
- 12k armor unbuffed
- ~200 spellpower

Myrmidon's Headdress - Steamvaults quest. High defense, two sockets, good stamina.

Gauntlets of the Bold - Steamvaults. Better than Righteous in my opinion. High stamina, two gem slots, which are perfectly suited to having a Defense and a Dodge rating gem in them.

Dauntless Handguards - Shattered Halls quest. Terrible from a pure avoidance perspective, these gauntlets are excellent for crush removal - adding 3.17% to your combined avoidance, making them better for this than the epic gauntlets from Karazhan.

Devilshark Cape - Steamvaults. High defense, stamina, and dodge rating. One of the best avoidance cloaks in the game.

Strength of the Untamed
- CE Revered. Good defense, dodge rating, and stamina. A great avoidance neck, but hang onto your Mark of the Ravenguard for when you need lots of stamina.

Figurine of the Colossus - Shattered Halls. 32 Block rating is huge for gaining crush immunity, but hang onto your Defense trinkets for places where you're not going to get crushed.

Libram of Repentance - Heroic Turnin. Hard to get, but this is huge. It adds 5% block rating to your Holy Shield, meaning you only need to reach 65% combined avoidance before Holy Shield to reach crush immunity.

Bracers of the Green Fortress - Crafted. They'll cost you a lot, but really, it's worth it. There's nearly nothing that goes in a wrist slot that's better than this.

Vindicator's Hauberk - Aldor Revered. If you're not Aldor, you miss out on this, but it's a great tanking chest. Massive defense, high dodge rating, and quite a lot of stamina.

Jade-Skull Breastplate - Mechanar. High block rating causes this chest to edge out the Vindicator's in terms of crush immunity, but retain your Vindicator's anyway for times when you can get crush immunity without the Jade-Skull or when you're in Heroics.

Flesh Beast's Metal Greaves - Mana Tombs quest. Not huge on the stats, but they have ridiculous amounts of dodge and defense on them.

Timewarden's Leggings - Keepers of Time Revered. Amazing legs, with massive stamina, avoidances, and gem slots. These leggings are still great, even though they've been nerfed. With +12 sta gems and a Clefthide Leg Armor, you're looking at 1353 additional HP with Kings on.

Continuum Blade - Keepers of Time Revered. Considered the best Tankadin weapon around. 161 Spellpower with a +40 spellpower enchant on. 1.8 speed matches well with Reckoning, and it comes with 30 stamina. Get it.

Andormu's Tear - Black Morass quest. An excellent avoidance ring. Packs no stamina, but has a trio of Defense, Dodge, and Block Rating. Don't wear it for normal purposes, but put it on for crush immunity.

Elementium Band of the Sentry - Arcatraz. Nice tanking ring. Good stamina, defense and dodge. Slightly inferior to Andormu's Tear for crush immunity, but quite a bit better than a Delicate Eternium Ring for all-round pure avoidance.

I'll discuss enchants and such shortly.

Jade-Skull Breastplate - Drops in Mechanar. This is better than the Aldor chest for reaching Uncrushable, albeit harder to actually get your hands on.

I've got one of them. Just did some crunching, and it turns out like this;

Vindicator's = 4.089% combined avoidance
Jade-Skull = 4.596% combined avoidance

So yes, the Jade-Skull Breastplate is better than the Vindicator's for crush immunity, though the Vindicator's edges it out on pure avoidance.

Thanks for the heads-up :)

Thatia's Self-Correcting Gauntlets, or Felsteel Gloves, most likely. Or the Gauntlets of the Bold, as mentioned in the article.

Not only for its geat stats but it has one of the Best looks as a tanking Helm IMHO

Unfortunately, that helm really isn't very good.

It's got less crush removal than a Felsteel Helm, less armor, and even when the Felsteel is only populated with green-quality +9 stamina gems, it's got less stamina.

And the Felsteel Helm is generally dirt cheap because people use it to level up Blacksmithing.
